I am fascinated by dogmatic religions, healers, lightworkers, female rulers, prophecies and conspiracies, messiahs and charlatans, things that are hidden away and public secrets, a new golden era and the new world order, and so on. I also get my inspiration from persons that don’t seem of this world. People like Jimi Hendrix, Herman Brood, Fellini, Dali, Oscar Wilde, etc. who followed their soul no matter what the outside world thought of it.

Also you could say that I am constantly torn between my love for dark paintings like Saturno Butto, and warm, bright and happy paintings. There are so many choices to be made and so many directions to follow. So I am still a bit blurred about “my style of painting”, because I also have the tendency to do something completely different from the last time. So maybe that’s why my progress is reasonably slow.

The only thing that isn’t blur is my deep wish to put a message into my paintings and to create frozen moments in which so many things happen at the same time. In other words: to create deep and meaningful paintings.

The brightness of 0 ("zero")

I am a big fan of Carlos Casteneda’s books which initiated me into the same world we all live in, but with a different view. Actually, what it did was combine all the religions I was interested in into one, but it also added things like the power of intent (which other people call “the secret”). If it wasn’t for the books of Carlos Castaneda I never would have taken Mushrooms. These things skyrocketed me into the universe and into the deepest depths of life. I even was witnessing the beginning of life till where we are now in just two minutes. I knew that life was good and full of suprises and that nature always did what her purpose was: getting us back into one, into zero. Zero to me represents intent and nothingness, a straight line with the center of all energy. It is a state of being without having to pray 10 times a day and laying on your knees for something to manifest in your life. Zero and one then brought me onto the idea of lines and dots, which you can see in a lot of my paintings. These represent our experiences in life and also destiny: things we have to experience in this life. Also to me it represents the matrix.

The eye of Jesus

Then there is the astrological birth chart of Jesus, which only happens once in every 20.000 years. (So sorry Christians, he is not coming back in this lifetime!) At some time
I placed an eye in it, due to the fact that I loved the book and movie “1984” by George Orwell. To me this new image told me that this one world governement is not a bad thing, because in the end everything will fall into place and we will release ourselves from our ego and greed for power. “When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace” Jimi Hendrix.

My influences
If I would have to name my biggest influences I have to say: Mondriaan, Herman Brood, Dali, Rogier van der Weyden and Michael Parkes. I think that sums it up.... :-)
